The assignments tab gives you as a teacher a high-level overview of student assignments, including in-progress, ready-to-mark, and graded assignments. From the assignments tab you can:
- Create new assignments
- Edit assignments previously created but that have not been graded yet
- Grade assignments after they have been submitted by students
- Download a zipped CSV file with all assignment grades for your class sections
Looking at the Assignments tab, notice that there are three categories of assignments: in progress, ready-to-mark, and graded. Newly created assignments go to the in progress category. Those assignments that have been submitted back for review by at least one student are moved to the ready-to-mark category. Finally, if you marked at least one student’s submission, the assignment moves to the graded category. There is also a search field to help you locate assignments by name. We recommend giving your assignments short unique names so they are easily searchable. An example might be a specific topic or chapter, e.g., “Chapter 2 decimal places” instead of “assignment number 1”.
For a quick review of the main assignment details, click on the blue and white “i” icon in the lower right corner of the assignment’s thumbnail image. From here you can also edit or delete the assignment.
Notice that under the assignment name, the assignment creation date and due date are listed. You can also see the time the assignment is due. If you do not set a specific time, the default time is 11:59 pm. Please note that TextbookHub recognizes your time zone automatically. That means if you are in one time zone and your students are in another, TextbookHub will adjust the assignment’s due time to their local time. In other words, if you set a due time of 3 PM ET, a student on the West Coast would have a due time on 12 PM PT.
On this tab, notice that there is a calendar for your convenience in the upper right area of the screen. Below that you’ll find a listing of any assignments that are due today. Click on another date in the calendar and the list will reflect that day’s assignments.
Near the bottom of the screen, you’ll find a blue Download all Grades button. Pressing the button will cause a zipped CSV file to download to your computer. It will contain a report for all assignments graded for students in your class sections since the beginning of the current school year.
